What is Credit Insights?
Credit Insights is a database service available to the telecommunications providers participating in the Credit Insights initiative. The database contains some details of individuals who have not paid their bills with the participating telecommunications providers and have been in arrears for a minimum of 90 days. The telecommunications provider of the defaulting individual submits the defaulter details to the database.
The Credit Insights database is accessible by the participating telecommunications providers only when individuals are seeking to enter a new contract with that service provider.
Which types of customers qualify for Credit Insights?
Only consumer bill pay customers who have agreed to the Credit Insights terms and conditions.
How will I know if Vodafone Ireland have submitted my details to the Credit Insights database?
Vodafone Ireland will write to every qualifying customer at least 28 days before loading their details into Credit Insights. This gives the customer sufficient time to pay their bill and avoid their details being loaded in to the database.
What is the definition of default?
The definition of default is past due 90 days plus your credit terms of 14 days, and the amount owed is above the minimum limit.
Is there a minimum limit of arrears for addition to Credit Insights?
Yes, the minimum limit is €50.
What personal data will be added to Credit Insights?
The personal data that will be added to Credit Insights is:
- Date Of birth
- Account type
- Account number
- Date of default
- Default amount (Minimum €50)
- Current account status
- Account start date
- Debt cleared date (where relevant)
What personal data will the participating company get back from Credit Insights?
- Date Of birth
- Date the debt registered
- Original Balance
- Current Balance
- Settlement Date. (Date debt was paid)
How long will my data be retained in Credit Insights?
Six years after submission to the Credit Insights database.

Who is operating the Credit Insights database?
The Credit Insights database is operated by Experian.
How can I check if their data is in Credit Insights?

How do I check if Vodafone Ireland added any of my data to Credit Insights?
Any customer of Vodafone whose data has been uploaded to Credit Insights will have received notification of this at least 28 days in advance of the upload.

You are entitled to copies of your Data kept by us. Requests should be made by downloading our Request for personal information form and should be addressed to Data Protection Officer, Vodafone Ireland Limited, MountainView, Leopardstown, Dublin 18. We will take all reasonable steps to confirm your identity before issuing any copy Data.
I have a dispute with Vodafone Ireland. Will my data be uploaded into Credit Insights?
Vodafone Ireland will take all reasonable steps to resolve all customer complaints before loading any data into Credit Insights.
Will the information affect the customer’s credit rating with companies not in Credit Insights?
This information will not be shared with financial banks or institutions, utility companies or any company not participating in the Credit Insights service.
This will not affect your credit rating with any of the above companies.
Will the information be used for marketing purposes?
The information will not be used for marketing purposes by the participating companies.
