I keep getting 'Web page not found' error message?


If you purchased an earlier version of the Vodafone Mobile Broadband modem dongle and have started to receive Web Page Not Found error messages. We recommend that you upgrade your Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) software to ensure that you do not continue to encounter these errors.

Please find instructions below on how to upgrade your VMC software

The software upgrade process consists of the following 3 simple steps

  1. Download the upgrade software zip file to your machine.
  2. Remove the current software version from your machine.
  3. Install the upgrade software onto your machine.

Download the 9.3.6 version of software here

Please ensure that you exit out of any programs that may be running before you begin the software upgrade.

To use this software, you need:

  • A computer running Microsoft® Windows® 2000, XP® or Vista®,
  • At least 100 MB free disk space and 512 MB RAM

Windows 2000/XP Users

1st Step: Download the Setup-9.3.6.zip file and save to your desktop ready to use once you have completed step 2.

Copy the Setup-9.3.6.zip to any folder on your hard drive.

2nd Step: Remove the current VMC software from your machine

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs, scroll down to the bottom of the list and select the Vodafone Software by left clicking it
  4. Then click the Remove
  5. Remove the profile data:
    To remove profile settings and similar user specific data you will have to delete the data folder in the user profile.
    1. Please make sure that showing hidden files and folders is turned on in your folder options
    2. Open C:\\Documents and Settings\\%USERNAME%\\Application Data\\Vodafone
    3. Delete the 'Vodafone Mobile Connect' Folder
    4. Remove the Vodafone or Huawei Technologies folder in Program Files C:\\program files\\Vodafone or Huawei Technologies if there are still files in there
  6. Check that the Vodafone Mobile Connect network connection has been deleted from Network Connections.
    1. Open the Start menu then Control Panel then Network Connections
    2. Check that no Vodafone Mobile Connect or VMC Lite network connection exists in Dial-up area
    3. To delete, Right click on the Vodafone Connection icon and select Delete

3rd Step: Install the upgrade software onto your machine.

  1. Unzip the new Setup-9.3.6.zip file and double click on the .exe file
  2. The installation 'wizard' program should run automatically
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Vodafone Mobile Connect software
  4. Insert the modem when the on-screen message asks you to.

Windows Vista Users

1st Step: Download the Setup-9.3.6.zip file and save to your desktop ready to use once you have completed step 2.

Copy the Setup-9.3.6.zip to any folder on your hard drive.

2nd Step: Remove the current VMC software from your machine

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Click Programs & Features, scroll down to the bottom of the list and select the Vodafone software by left clicking it then click on Uninstall near the top of the page
  4. Remove the profile data:
    To remove profile settings and similar user specific data you will have to delete the data folder in the user profile.
    1. Please make sure that showing hidden files and folders is turned on in your Folder Options
    2. Open c:\\Users\\%USERNAME%\\Application Data\\Roaming\\Vodafone
    3. Delete the 'Vodafone Mobile Connect' Folder
    4. Remove the Vodafone or Huawei Technologies folder in Program Files C:\\program files\\Vodafone or Huawei Technologies if there are still files in there
  5. Check that the Vodafone Mobile Connect network connection has been deleted from Network Connections.
    1. Open Control Panel in the Start menu then Network and Sharing Centre then Manage Network Connections
    2. Check that no Vodafone Mobile Connect or VMC Lite network connection exists in Dial-up area
    3. To delete Right click on the Vodafone Mobile Connect icon and select Delete

3rd Step: Install the upgrade software onto your machine.

  1. Unzip the new Setup-9.3.6.zip file and double click on the .exe file
  2. The installation 'wizard' program should run automatically
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Vodafone Mobile Connect software
  4. Insert the modem when the on-screen message asks you to.

I use the modem on several different machines do I need to repeat this on every machine?

Yes, the software will need to be upgraded as per the instructions above for each machine you use the modem to connect to the internet on.
